Hidden but not lost: Notifications for hidden groups

If you and your team have set up groups for all updates and activity related to your organization, you may be seeing a noisy home feed. Want to reduce the information overload, yet not miss out on the important stuff?

Out of sight, out of mind

A great way to declutter your news feed is to hide the groups that are either high frequency or not vital to your workday.

The downside? This can result in having to either remember to visit these groups or just completely ignoring posts.

Taming your FOMO

Here’s how you can get the best of both worlds. Hide groups that you don’t want to be part of your main news feed, but turn on notifications for hidden groups.

That way you still get notified without the clutter and never miss out on anything important.

Select your notification preferences in the group’s menu and get notified the way that works best for you.

Here are some types of groups where this comes in handy:

The alarms and alerts group

If you’ve set up alerts or alarms to make sure things are running smoothly, you may be getting some alerts that don’t require any action, some even just to say that everything is OK. These alerts are important, but they don’t all need to be on your home feed. When an alert needs a reaction, you can always share it with a team or person. Go ahead and hide that group, but get notified so you know when you need a closer look. ⏰

The competitor news group

You can set up a Twitter integration as a great way to keep an eye on what your competitors are doing. Maybe you don’t want to spend all day seeing competitor news on your feed and instead keep your eye on the prize and focus on building that awesome project. File away the competitor ticker in a hidden group and turn on notifications so you don’t miss a big announcement. 👀

The fun group

You know the group where people post jokes, memes, lunch plans, or something about the blue or white dress? We are guessing that you’re probably part of one. Tuck away the distraction in a hidden group. But, you know what they say about all work and no fun, right? Turn on notifications so you don’t miss all the fun. 🎉

The perfect combination of hidden groups and not-so-hidden notifications, is a great way to stay on top of everything, get to urgent matters fast, save time and never be worried about a feed cluttered with unimportant posts. 🔔
